What's My Story?

I'm a:
* Former Div I Varsity XC runner.
* 2 time (almost 3 time, long story) marathoner.
* Now Dad of two, fighting becoming a 100% weekend warrior.

For the past 3 years, I've been plagued by the same consistent knee injury, a painful buckling on the outside of the right knee that can only be exercised after about 2 miles (16 mins) of running, to which I have to stop, and the pain affects me for the next 24 hours.

To solve the problem, I've tried:
  • 2 Dr's
  • 2 PTs
  • Accupuncture
  • Vitamins

Nada. But, no running = no pain so with 2 kids now under 5, out of sight out of mind.

The Backstory

A year ago, at our yearly holiday get together, a buddy challenged this group of former college runners to run every day for 2010. Everyone but the guy who owned a running store thought he was nuts.

A year later, I thought he was a little less nuts.

OK, now what?

At end of this year, I said enough is enough. Running is both a physical and mental reward for me and I can solve 3 hours of business problems in a 1 hour run.

Nothing like New Years Day to set a goal and get back to what I love. And that means running at least 3 miles every day.

3 miles.

Every day.

And as a friend asked, yes, with no one chasing me or forcing me to go.

Where you come in?

6 years ago I raised money for the Karen & Laura Legacy fund when running my first marathon, in memory of a great friend of my wife who passed away and her sister, all in one year.

It's the 10 year anniversary of their death, andI'd like to raise some more money in their memory.
